Garden Adventures
I finally made it out to the garden tonight. I thought I should since I can’t remember the last time I went and with a change in weather, the garden needed some water. I’m feeling like my garden is an after thought this year. Tonight, one of my fellow gardeners said, “I haven’t seen much of you this year.” I just don’t have as much garden time and I’m feeling like my garden is suffering. But on the bright side, some things are looking good! Here are a few pictures from tonight….
- Garden Overview
- The fully weeded side
- Any ideas what that tall plant is? I thought it was some sort of lettuce when I planted it
- Zinnias and ?
- Leeks and Onions

Those big tall things are your plants bolting – meaning they are getting ready to seed and when they do they will die, so you need to eat them right now or they will become bitter. Lettuce, spinach, cabbage, broccoli and some other plants will bolt like that when it gets too hot for them – they don’t like heat, so they bolt and start to seed – it’s how they preserve themselves.
Your garden still looks lovely! Great job! Some years you have the time to really work at it, and some years you don’t, but your garden looks great this year, even if you feel like you haven’t done a lot – you’re working this year as compared to last year!
